Arrival at Lisbon Airport at the time indicated for boarding formalities on a scheduled flight with TAP airline departing at 09.10. Only a 4-hour flight separates our reality from this great adventure. Arrival on the island of São Vicente, briefing by our guide and immediate transfer to the hotel. Lunch and dinner included and the afternoon free to rest and make the first contact with this incredible city of Mindelo.
Enjoy every moment, let yourself be immersed in the culture, music and gastronomy. Prepare to be surprised every day of this tour, carefully designed to make you wow! Accommodation.
Breakfast. Discovery of the capital of the island of São Vicente: with an area of 227 square kilometres, São Vicente is an island with unique characteristics, which particularly invites us to enjoy the famous Cape Verdean nights.
A panoramic tour of the city of Mindelo. Fascinating because of its universality, the friendliness of its people, as well as the common factor that almost all Mindelenses share, which is a passion for music, eternalised by the late barefoot diva, Cesária Évora.
We'll be able to witness this in most of the city's bars, where live music predominates and sets the mood for Mindelo's nightlife. Walking down the beautiful promenade that flanks Porto Grande Bay, we'll see the statue of an eagle about to take flight. Discover the replica of Lisbon's Belém Tower.
We'll also pass by the fresh fish market, as well as the African market, with its characteristic clothes and objects from this continent. We'll visit Pracinha da Igreja, the oldest square on the island, and the Fruit and Vegetable Market. Tasting of a typical Cape Verdean drink and lunch in a local restaurant. Transfer to São Vicente harbour and ferry to Santo Antão island. Arrival in Porto-Novo. A change of scenery... this is a fantastic island with incredible beauty, its imposing mountains and deep, green valleys. Dinner and accommodation.
Breakfast. Ascent towards Pico da Cruz, located between 1,300 and 1,600 metres above sea level. Drive or walk 40 minutes to the small ranger's house, where you'll enjoy an exceptional view over the islands of S. Vicente, Santa Luzia and São Nicolau.
The guide will show us the different species of endemic plants. At this altitude we discover a forest of pine and eucalyptus trees. On one side, Pico da Cruz faces São Vicente, giving us a spectacular view of the arm of the sea that separates the two islands. On the other side, we are offered the breathtaking landscape of the Paul Valley, stretching up to 900 metres below our feet.
We drive along the panoramic Corda road. Large, unspoilt expanses, complemented by the hospitality of the local people, offer us a journey with a special, unforgettable flavour. Goat's cheese is a speciality of this plateau and its production method is explained to us. We won't leave this region without first visiting a primary school (except during school holidays), where we'll get to know and interact more closely with the docile children, who surprise us mainly with their natural and friendly smiles. Continue in the direction of Ribeira Grande. Along the way we'll stop at Delgadinho from where we can see Ribeira da Torre and Ribeira Grande. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Arrival in Ponta do Sol, a town that, with all its charm, vainly offers us a colourful panorama, made up of its strongly coloured houses. These beautiful old houses, built in the image of colonial architecture, are today a valuable historical heritage of the island of Santo Antão. Discovery of the fishing harbour. Dinner and accommodation.
Breakfast. Walk and discover the town of Porto Novo. We'll see the fishermen tending their tuna nets (subject to weather conditions and the arrival of the fishermen). A few metres away, women sell fresh fish. Pass by Amílcar Cabral Avenue, where a statue in honour of Cape Verdean women has been erected. Visit the century-old Church of St John the Baptist.
Then we take the road towards "Pousolana oasis". We continue in the direction of Lajedos. Lunch at the Babilónia estate.
This estate originated from a community project to develop local agriculture, where we will taste regional specialities. Visits to the property (crops, livestock) with the chance to buy local products produced by the inhabitants of this village. Continue to Ribeira das Patas and Alto Mira. It is in Ribeira das Patas that the celebrations of São João Baptista begin, a pilgrimage that takes place between the 23rd and 25th of June, with the high point on the 23rd being the pilgrimage to Porto Novo, where the sacred and the profane mingle to the sound of drums, whistles and voices that invite you to dance the Kola San Jon.
The Alto Mira region, which has great agricultural potential, with its verdant valleys running down the hillside to the sea, passing through small villages, allows us to contemplate magnificent landscapes. Dinner and accommodation.
Breakfast. Departure towards Paul along the coastal road and visit the famous Paul Valley, the greenest on the island. This is where the largest quantity of grog, a local drink made from sugar cane, is produced. On arrival in the small town, we'll take a break where we can take in the beautiful scenery. A 2-hour walk or drive through the heart of the valley, which will allow us to discover thatched houses and cultivated terraces.
We'll see a small primitive village with small, rudimentary stone houses. Lunch where we'll savour the traditional and famous cachupa, a typical dish of the entire archipelago, cooked with locally produced ingredients. We take the road back to Porto Novo and head for the harbour where we catch the ferry to the island of S. Vicente. Return to Mindelo. Dinner and accommodation.
Breakfast. Start the journey towards Calhau: along the way we can appreciate a beautiful valley, unique on the island of S. Vicente, where the water for irrigation is extracted from the wells by means of windmills. Back on the road in the direction of Baia das Gatas, a superb bay whose beach, set in calm, crystal-clear waters, offers us a huge natural swimming pool.
It is also on this beautiful beach that a famous music festival takes place every year in August, welcoming visitors from all over the islands as well as from different countries.
Lunch in a local restaurant. Return via Salamansa, a small fishing village. We will learn about their way of life. Then we'll head towards Monte Verde, a promontory with superb views over the city of Mindelo and the island's northern beaches, as well as the neighbouring islands of Santo Antão, Santa Luzia and São Nicolau.
Then we head towards Mindelo, where we can see Monte Cara, one of St Vincent's ex-libris. It's nothing more than a mountain whose relief, seen from afar, shows us the well-defined shape of a face. Dinner and accommodation.

São Tomé and Príncipe is an incredible destination that offers unique experiences all year round, making it an ideal place to visit in any season.
For those who love the tropical climate, this country, being close to the equator, maintains an average temperature of 25 to 28 degrees Celsius throughout the year. The constant climate is perfect for beach lovers, and you'll always find a sunny spot to relax by the sea.
The rainy season, from October to May, offers spectacular scenery. The rains revitalise the vegetation and make the forests even more lush. This is also the best time for birdwatchers, as many species are active during this period. And don't worry, the rains are usually short and intense, leaving plenty of room for the sun to shine.
On the other hand, the dry season, which runs from June to September, is ideal for adventurers. Trails and hikes are more accessible and the days are generally longer, giving you more time to explore the beautiful landscape.
If you're looking for local culture and traditions, then any time of year is ideal for your visit. Festivals and cultural events take place throughout the year, such as the São Tomé Music Festival in July and Independence Day in July.
So whatever month you choose, your trip to São Tomé and Príncipe will be full of memorable experiences. This country's charms are not limited to one season or time of year, making it a perfect destination in any season.

Security is a priority in São Tomé and Príncipe, and the country has one of the lowest crime rates in Africa. The people are warm and welcoming, and tourists generally report feeling safe when exploring the cities and countryside. Of course, as anywhere, it is recommended that travellers maintain a general awareness of their safety and take care of their belongings.
The healthcare system in São Tomé and Príncipe is adequate, and there are a good number of doctors and clinics available. The main cities have hospitals and, in the event of an emergency, there are procedures for medical evacuation. Visitors are advised to take out travel insurance and have their vaccinations up to date.
