Day-by-day itinerary

Arrival at Amílcar Cabral International Airport (direct flight from Lisbon or Porto). Private transfer to the hotel in Santa Maria. All-inclusive resort check-in. First contact with the famous white-sand beach and warm water. Dinner and overnight.

Free morning to enjoy Santa Maria Beach. In the afternoon, a walk to the famous Santa Maria pier to see the fresh-fish landing and local life. Later, a drink and rest by the resort pools.

A day to discover the island. Visit Buracona to see the Blue Eye, the Terra Boa desert 'mirages', and a floating bath in the Pedra de Lume volcanic crater. Typical lunch included. Return to the hotel for dinner.

Morning departure to Shark Bay for a walk in the sea and lemon-shark watching. Stop at Kite Beach, a world hotspot for water sports. Free afternoon at the resort.

Board a catamaran along the south coast. Swim stops, reef snorkeling and Cape Verdean live music on board. Free afternoon to enjoy the hotel and beach.

A full rest day. Optional hotel spa massage or a stroll through local craft shops. In the evening, dinner out or a drink in a live-music bar in Santa Maria, with morna and funaná.

Free morning for last shopping or a swim. At the agreed time, transfer to Sal airport and a direct flight back to Lisbon/Porto.

Frequently asked questions

Portuguese and EU citizens do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 30 days. You do need a passport valid for at least 6 months and the EASE online pre-registration. Our agency handles this pre-registration and the airport security tax when you book the package.

You can pay in euros almost everywhere — restaurants, craft shops, taxis and excursions. Change may be given in Cape Verdean escudos (CVE). Portuguese debit cards do not work in every ATM, so bring some cash in euros.

The only mandatory hotel tax is the government tourism tax of €2.50 per person per night (ages 16+, up to 10 nights). Flight and accommodation taxes are already included in the Magia do Sal package.

Tap water on Sal is desalinated. It is fine for washing, but drink bottled water. Hotels in the package use filtered water for food and ice.

No mandatory vaccines for travellers from Portugal or Europe, unless you come from a yellow-fever risk country. Pack high sunscreen, insect repellent and basic painkillers.

Sal is sunny year-round (about 25–29°C). November to April is great for water sports. May to October the sea is warmer (up to 27°C), ideal for swimming and family holidays.
