These summer holidays 2027 take you to Sao Tome and Principe for 9 days, with direct flights from Lisbon: coffee and cocoa plantations, the beaches of the south and the Rolas islet, where the Equator runs under your feet. June to September is the gravana, the dry season, with far less rain, milder temperatures and, from July, humpback whales passing the islands.
You unpack only three times: 3 nights at Roça Santa Luzia in the rainforest, 3 nights at Ecolodge Praia Inhame by the sea in the south, and a final night in Sao Tome city. Small groups of up to 12, a guide from the first to the last day and half board.

Day-by-day itinerary
Direct scheduled flight from Lisbon to Sao Tome (about 6.5 hours; in summer Sao Tome is one hour behind Lisbon). Our guide meets you and drives you to Roça Santa Luzia, in the middle of the rainforest, and helps you change euros into dobras and buy a local SIM card. Welcome dinner and overnight.
Up to the green heart of the island, where coffee growing began at 800 metres above Trindade. Visit Roça Monte Café and its museum (€3) and walk to the Cascata Milagrosa waterfall. Lunch included at the Almada Negreiros museum restaurant. Dinner and overnight at Roça Santa Luzia.
Visit a cocoa cooperative (€4) to see fermentation, drying and bean-by-bean sorting. Then the baobab route to Anambó, where Portuguese navigators landed in 1470, and the Santa Catarina tunnel. Swim at Lagoa Azul, lunch at your own expense and visit Roça Agostinho Neto. Dinner and overnight at Roça Santa Luzia.
South along the Tropical Route: the open-air laundry at the mouth of the Abade river, Roça Água Izé and the Boca do Inferno blowhole. Lunch at your own expense. In the afternoon, rainforest and volcanic scenery to the Pico Cão Grande viewpoint. Dinner and overnight at Ecolodge Praia Inhame.
Boat crossing to the Rolas islet and its Equator landmark, where you stand in both hemispheres. Grilled fish lunch on the islet, included, and time on the beaches. Dinner and overnight at Ecolodge Praia Inhame.
A slow day on the beaches near the ecolodge, such as Praia Piscina with its natural rock pools. Lunch at your own expense. Dinner and overnight at Ecolodge Praia Inhame.
Back north via the Cauê river viewpoint and the Ribeira Peixe waterfall. Tasting lunch at chef João Carlos Silva’s roça in São João dos Angolares. Overnight at Hotel Omali or Pestana Miramar in Sao Tome city. Dinner at your own expense.
São Sebastião Fort museum, Independence Square, the cathedral and the markets, with a chocolate tasting. Transfer to the airport for the overnight flight to Lisbon.
