Marrakech City Break: 4 Days in a Riad in the Medina

4-day trip to Marrakech with 3 nights in a boutique riad in the Medina, breakfast, all transfers, a guided tour and 24h assistance.

4 days / 3 nights 2–12 travelers Morocco
Marrakech city break: 4 days and 3 nights in a riad all to yourselves, and the Marrakech that ordinary itineraries never show. Some trips are about seeing places. This short break is about feeling Morocco. Marrakech is not something you look at from outside: you walk through it, sleep inside the red walls of the Medina and lose yourself in the alleys of the souks, with no textbook routes, no crowds and no rush.

A Marrakech city break from Lisbon, Porto or Faro

Morocco is right next door: there are direct flights to Marrakech from Lisbon (about an hour and a half), Porto (about two hours) and Faro. You only book the flight; the airport welcome, transfers, accommodation, guided tour and local support are on us. It is perfect for a long weekend, a romantic getaway or a short trip with friends.

Sleeping in a riad

The heart of this trip is your riad. We choose boutique riads in the heart of the Medina: restored old mansions with intimate courtyards, hand-painted tiles and often a hammam and a roof terrace overlooking the city. No chain hotel can recreate that atmosphere. Every morning starts with a traditional Moroccan breakfast, and you can upgrade to a superior riad (+€75) or a luxury riad (+€200).

What to see on a 4-day Marrakech city break

This itinerary combines the essentials and the hidden corners: Jemaa el-Fna square and sunset over the Koutoubia Mosque, in a Medina listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the painted cedar ceilings of Bahia Palace; the cobalt blue of the Majorelle Garden, restored by Yves Saint Laurent; the calm of Le Jardin Secret; and hidden workshops where craftsmen still forge iron, stitch babouches and dye cotton by hand. And, of course, shopping in the souks, where haggling is part of the ritual.

Price and what is included

From €270 per person: 3 nights in a boutique riad in the Medina, daily Moroccan breakfast, airport welcome and all transfers, a half-day guided tour with an official guide and 24-hour local assistance. Flights, main meals and the tourist tax (€2 to €2.50 per night) are not included.

When to go

Spring and autumn are the best times, when you can explore the Red City on foot without the July and August heat. A riad is not a 200-room hotel, so each departure has limited places. Got more days? Add the Sahara with our Marrakech desert tour to Merzouga.

Day-by-day itinerary

Landing in Marrakech and a welcome from our local guide, already waiting for you at the airport. A private transfer takes you to the heart of the Medina, where you'll settle into a unique boutique riad, carefully chosen by us for its authenticity and comfort. To feel the real Morocco — and the magic of the famous Red City — you need to sleep within the walls, in a riad, not in a hotel on the outskirts. Here, everything has soul: intimate courtyards, hand-painted tiles, the scent of spices and a traditional Moroccan breakfast worth waking up for. Rest of the day at leisure.

Breakfast at the riad. Today, forget the postcard tours — we don't sell sightseeing, we show you Marrakech as it really is. On the half-day guided tour of the Medina, we take you through neighbourhoods the average tourist never finds: the hidden artisan quarter, where local craftsmen bend red-hot iron, hand-stitch babouches, paint furniture and dye cotton in impossible shades. Then the palette shifts — the painted cedar ceilings of the Bahia Palace, or the quiet green of the Menara Gardens, contrast with the energy of Jemaa el-Fna Square, in the heart of a UNESCO-listed Medina, with a stunning view of the Koutoubia at sunset. Free time to explore on your own. Overnight at the riad.

Breakfast. The day is yours — follow the rhythm of Marrakech. It's worth setting aside time for the iconic Majorelle Garden, with the famous cobalt blue created by painter Jacques Majorelle and later restored by Yves Saint Laurent, or for the green retreat of Le Jardin Secret, tucked away in the Medina's alleyways. But above all, this is shopping day — lose yourselves in the souks, among lanterns, spices, rugs and leather, and haggle without shame: it's part of the ritual. In the evening, dine at one of the addresses our own Luciano keeps for special occasions — your last night in Marrakech deserves to be unforgettable.

Breakfast at the riad, at your own pace, depending on your flight time. Private transfer to Marrakech Menara Airport for your return flight. This is where the break ends — but Marrakech stays with you forever.

Frequently asked questions

No. This break includes riad accommodation, breakfast, transfers, a guided tour and local assistance, but flights are booked separately. There are direct flights to Marrakech from London (around 3.5 hours), Manchester, Bristol and many other European airports. Send us your flight times and we'll arrange your airport welcome.

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best times, with warm, pleasant days for exploring the Medina on foot. In July and August temperatures often exceed 40 °C, while winter days are mild but nights are cold.

Marrakech is generally a safe and very popular destination. As in any busy tourist city, watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas, politely decline unofficial "guides" offering their services in the street and always agree prices beforehand. You have 24-hour local assistance throughout your trip. Check your government's travel advice before you go.

A riad is a traditional Moroccan house built around an interior courtyard, often with a garden or fountain. Staying in a riad inside the Medina means you can walk to the souks, Jemaa el-Fna Square and the main sights, in an intimate, authentic setting no chain hotel can match.

Four days is enough to see the highlights: the Medina and souks, Jemaa el-Fna Square, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, the Majorelle Garden, Le Jardin Secret and the Menara Gardens. The half-day guided tour is included, and the free day lets you explore at your own pace.

UK, EU, US and Canadian citizens do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days. You need a valid passport, ideally with at least 6 months' validity on the date of travel. Always check the latest entry requirements for your nationality.

Yes. The base price is for standard-category riads. There is a €75 supplement for a Superior Riad and a €200 supplement for a Superior Luxury Riad. Just let us know your preference when booking.

No. Marrakech is inland, at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. The nearest beach is in Essaouira, on the Atlantic coast, about 3 hours' drive away — an idea for your free day, not included in the price.
