Honeymoon in São Tomé and Príncipe
A private honeymoon on both islands: flights from Lisbon, flight to Príncipe Island, 4 nights at Bom Bom Resort, Hotel Omali, transfers and guide. No time difference.
Some trips are just holidays. And some trips become the first memory of a life together. This São Tomé and Príncipe honeymoon was designed, day by day, for couples who have just said "yes" and are looking for a truly different honeymoon destination: the Last Paradise on Earth, around 6h30 by direct flight from Lisbon and with no time difference.
In 9 days, this honeymoon brings the two islands together. In São Tomé, Hotel Omali, by the sea, so you can arrive and leave without rushing. On Príncipe Island, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, four nights at Bom Bom Resort — one of the most exclusive luxury hideaways in Africa — between equatorial forest and almost deserted paradise beaches. A honeymoon package with flights, inter-island flight, transfers and guide, designed for newlyweds who would rather swap the obvious for an authentic tropical paradise, just the two of you.
Why São Tomé and Príncipe is one of the best honeymoon destinations in Africa from Portugal
- An African honeymoon with no jet lag: a direct flight from Lisbon, on the same time as Portugal — you arrive rested, even after the exhaustion of the wedding
- Beaches newlyweds practically have to themselves, far from the crowds of the Maldives, Zanzibar or Cape Verde
- Bom Bom Resort, on Príncipe Island, as the luxury setting for your honeymoon, and Hotel Omali in São Tomé
- Experiences for two in nature: a boat trip and snorkelling in Baía das Agulhas, the Cocoa Route, a forest walk to a secret beach and an afternoon at Sundy Praia
- A private trip, just for the couple, with our own team in São Tomé meeting you at the airport and looking after you from the first day to the last
How much does a honeymoon in São Tomé and Príncipe cost?
From €3,000 per person, with international flights from Lisbon, a domestic flight to Príncipe Island, travel insurance, accommodation with breakfast, transfers, guide and a 4x4 with driver. Less than a honeymoon in the Maldives or the Seychelles, with the same sense of exclusivity — and a destination almost none of your friends have visited.
Day-by-day itinerary

From Roça Sundy, a walk through a historic forest leads the couple to a secret, hidden beach, where a delicious surprise has been specially prepared for the newlyweds. Then a swim in the ocean and a romantic walk along the coast to Sundy Praia. Accommodation.

Frequently asked questions
This São Tomé and Príncipe honeymoon costs from €3,000 per person, with international flights from Lisbon, a domestic flight to Príncipe Island, travel insurance, 6 nights' accommodation with breakfast (Hotel Omali and Bom Bom Resort), transfers, guide and a 4x4 with driver. The final price varies with the season and hotel availability.
The dry season, from June to September, is the most popular — it coincides with summer holidays in Portugal and the humpback whale season. If you want to see turtles nesting, choose between September and April.
Ideally 8 to 9 days, so you can visit both islands calmly: a few days in São Tomé and the rest on Príncipe Island, without feeling you are always on the move.
No vaccination is mandatory to enter São Tomé and Príncipe. Even so, we recommend seeing your doctor before the trip — the travel health consultation is included in the package. And talk to our São Tomé specialist first.
No. Portuguese citizens do not need a visa to enter São Tomé and Príncipe. You just need a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
Yes. It is considered one of the safest African destinations to travel to, with low crime and very hospitable people. As on any trip, travel insurance and some basic caution at night are recommended.
For a honeymoon we always recommend including both islands. São Tomé offers culture and history; Príncipe Island, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, is where the real romance is — secret beaches, untouched forest and Bom Bom Resort.
If you want exclusivity without the price and crowds of the Maldives, yes. São Tomé and Príncipe offers almost deserted beaches and secluded luxury resorts, with a direct flight from Lisbon and without the usual Maldives prices of over €4,000–5,000 per person. And think about it: you have just got married, the party was beautiful and you can feel the tiredness. São Tomé is about 6h30 by direct flight, with no time difference — you arrive and start your honeymoon straight away, with no jet lag.
Zanzibar is already a widely known honeymoon destination, with resorts that are increasingly busy. São Tomé and Príncipe offers a similar experience — beaches, African culture, tropical nature — but still as a destination to discover, with far fewer tourists.
The Seychelles are an established destination, but with high prices and longer, more expensive flights from Portugal. São Tomé and Príncipe has a direct flight from Lisbon, resorts with the same level of exclusivity and a final price that is usually lower.
Cape Verde is better known and has more tourist infrastructure and nightlife. São Tomé and Príncipe is wilder and more intimate, with dense rainforest and less development — ideal for couples looking for a complete disconnect rather than entertainment.
The package includes flights, accommodation with breakfast, transfers, guide and a 4x4 with driver. It is not "all inclusive" for meals — but all the excursions and the essentials of the stay are organised from start to finish, with no logistical worries for the couple.
It is not the cheapest honeymoon destination, but it is one of the best for value versus exclusivity. For around €3,000 per person, flights included, you get four nights at a luxury resort on a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve island — something that costs considerably more in the Maldives or the Seychelles.
Yes. There is a departure on 14 February 2027, for those who want to start their honeymoon on Valentine's Day. As the trip is private, just for the couple, we can also book it for whatever date suits you after the wedding, depending on flight and hotel availability.
Yes. We can add nights on Príncipe Island or in São Tomé, a private dinner by the sea, a couples massage or room decoration for your arrival. Tell us what you have in mind and we will have everything ready before you arrive.
